The upcoming AI 2025 law, encompassing bills AB 2602 and AB 1836 are set to introduce significant restrictions on how artificial intelligence.

This comes after various possible legal issues maybe the end result, due to the reproduction of voices aligned with Hollywood actors and other performers.

The legislation aims to protect the rights of artists in an era where deep fake technology and voice cloning tools have been used to target their personas.

The chief argument, are the claims that AI users are mimic someone else's voice without their given consent.

Therefore, Congressional Lawmakers have taken progressive steps to assist performers in retaining control over both their vocal and visual identities.

The ordinance will also pertain to expand regions of the following digital industries:

  • Movie 
  • Commercials 
  • Games 
  • Various other media formats.
.Here are the Bill Laws that will be implicated after the turn of 2024 into January 1. of 2025:
  • Bill (AB 2602) - Specifically focuses on tightening intellectual property laws. The purpose of the ordinance will make it illegal to replicate an actor's voice without proper licensing or explicit permission. 
  • Bill (AB 1836) - Is an law ordinance that will specifically focus on "Ethical AI Usage". It will serve as the guideline for companies to uphold, upon developing or deploying voice cloning technologies.

Basically, both laws will be set to prevent exploitation of others' intellectual property online.

So, under these laws, studios who want to use a deceased actor's voice would need to get approval from a movie production company or entity. 


Doing so helps ensure accountability and respect for the actor or actresses' career and legacy.

 

This comes after actors and voice performers have raised alarms about their livelihoods being at risk due to AI-generated voices. 


Their ultimate worry is being duplicated and replaced at fraction a of the cost.


Actors and actresses lay in worry about receiving their fair share of proper royalties (among other profit returns from the work they put toward audio or video production).
